Bank holiday Monday saw us back at Castle Combe Circuit with the TSR Golf racing in the Castle Combe saloon car championship. Our constantly evolving car saw us with another setup change for Qualifying and unfortunately it didn't pay off with the car feeling unstable , however we still managed a respectable 6th overall.
During the gap the team went to work to try and iron out the suspension issues for the race. Sat on the grid and a few nerves wondering how the car will feel as we head down to Quarry for the first lap. Lights go out and we make a great start up into 4th immediately the changes the team have made have improved the car. After a short battle with the Mitsubishi Colt of Norris we had to concede he had the pace and he went through. A failure on the 2nd place car means we fished 4th overall and 3rd in class. We also managed to break into the illusive 1.13 lap times.
When we had the crazy idea of entering this championship last year I don't think we believed we would break into the 1.13 lap times and be sat 2nd in our class after 2 rounds. We still have lots of work to do developing our car and driver. Considering most of our competition have vast racing experience in either cars or Karts and I have completed 8 races in total we are really happy with progress and can't wait for the next round.
