Cometic MLS/MLX head gaskets are designed for performance engine sealing. The MLX design uses an extra stopper layer, high-temperature polymers and embossments to seal water passages and improve combustion sealing.

The stopper layer provides a torque-limiting surface to help prevent yielding of the combustion seals, while the polymer coating and embossments provide a microseal against the head and block surfaces.
